The design of Holly Mae is inspired by the West country work boats of around 100 years ago. There are features of Falmouth working boats, Falmouth Quay punts and Pilot cutters. The hull is deep, like a quay punt but she'll have a cutter rig, more like a working boat or a pilot cutter.
My current boat, Lyonesse (now for sale), and my previous boat, Juno, were both designed by Percy Dalton and so there is undoubtedly some influence there.
I drew the original lines on paper and these have since been developed and refined with a lot of help from Matt Wood who also put them onto a computer model for fairing and help with constructional details.
The idea is to recreate the robust beauty of an old work boat in a functional, seaworthy, and comfortable cruising boat capable of making long passages at a reasonable speed.

Interior and Deck Layout.
Since Christmas I've been working on the interior and deck layout with lots of help in computer modelling from Mash ( www.mashderrickdesign.co.uk ) . I think the latest model is pretty close to being the final design. Just a few lockers to add.
Looking at the interior you can see the forepeak has a double berth on the port side, behind that is the heads. In the main saloon against the bulkhead (in green) is a small solid fuel burner. A drop leaf table is in the middle with a berth to port. To starboard is a seat which becomes a berth when the backrest is removed to give extra width and behind that and raised is another berth.
Further aft to port is the galley, with a Taylors parrafin cooker and sink, and opposite that is the chart table . Behind the chart table is a quarter berth, making six berths in all.
On deck there is a small low coachroof with a skylight centred over the table. The coachroof is relatively narrow to give wide side decks. Just in front of the coachroof the little green pipe is the chimney from the wood burner. On the foredeck you can see a forehatch giving access and light to the forepeak. The large clear deck space has a 10 inch bulwark around it.
